Il Palazzotto

Our history

Past and present

For many years, on the hills of Diano d'Alba, the cultivation of the vine is a fundamental commitment. The farm IL PALAZZOTTO is located in the historic center of the town and has been producing typical Langa wines for four generations.

In 1888, Carlo, built the manor house with a cellar below with underground rooms made of stone and brick, typical of the buildings of the late 1800s, with a humidity and temperature content almost constant throughout the year, ideal characteristics for wine making and storage.

His son Michele, followed by his nephew Carlo, continued the family business.

In 1995, Paolo, an oenologist, joined his father Carlo in the farm full-time, expanding the cellar with adjacent rooms used for winemaking and bottling. Currently the production is around 30000 bottles per year.

His grandson Daniele too, after attending the Oenological School and animated by the same family passion, is joining the company with the aim of continuing the activity started by his great-great-grandfather.

The farm

'Il Palazzotto' is a small family farm with 5 hectares of vineyards and 5 hectares of hazel trees, another important resource for the economy of the Langhe.

The most typicalwine is the Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba with two selections: the 'Sorì Cristina' and the 'Sorì Santa Lucia', together with a 'Barbera d'alba Superiore', a 'Nebbiolo d'Alba' and a 'Roero Arneis'.

In the Langhe dialect the word “Sori'” indicates that the vineyard is in a position particularly favored by the local microclimate and therefore with a high wine vocation. This careful study of the vocations consequently quality for the consumer and wine connoisseur.
